Your Breast Augmentation Results

You will notice an improvement in your breast shape and size immediately. Your implants initially may appear too high after a submuscular breast augmentation. This is to be expected because the muscle will take a variable amount of time to relax. As your muscle relaxes, your implants will “drop” or “settle” into their intended position. During this time, you may experience soreness in your chest, but this rapidly disappears. Mild swelling of the breasts usually takes several weeks to subside. You should be able to resume your normal daily activities the day after surgery. After three weeks, you should be able to resume most exercise activities, such as swimming, running, and aerobics. Six weeks after surgery, you should be able to resume all physical activities. Satisfaction with your new image will continue to grow as you recover and realize the fulfillment of your goal for fuller breasts.

Breast Maturation

Following the breast augmentation, especially with transaxillary and TUBA procedures, the implants will often appear too high on the chest. The implants will gradually settle into place over the course of a few weeks to several months as the intact supporting muscle fascia (muscle envelope) and the overlying breast skin stretch to accommodate the implants.
